Yasmin Alami has been called " a truly remarkable young pianist" and "extremely musical' by the renowned pianist and conductor Philippe Entremont. A Jordanian Palestinian pianist, Miss Alami established herself as an international musician appearing as both a soloist and chamber musician. She has given extensive performances across the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.
In 2006, Yasmin made her New York City debut at Steinway Hall. Other notable performances include a private solo recital in honor of Her Royal Highness Princess Wijdan Ali, a solo performance at the residence of the French ambassador in Jordan under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bint Ali in celebration of International Women’s Day, and a solo recital in memory of the Fukushima disaster under the patronage of the Japanese ambassador to Jordan. Recently, she has given solo performances at the Palm Beach Atlantic International Piano Festival and at the Amman Spring Festival in Jordan. Her past performances include recitals at the Bibliotheque Communale de Braine l’Alleud in Brussels, Municipal Theater Baltazar Dias in Madeira, Portugal, the Ecole Normale de Musique- Alfred Cortot in Paris, Salle Ockeghem and Espace Malreaux inTours, France, and the Conservatoire d’Orleans in Orleans, France. Miss Alami also performs regularly in her home country of Jordan at such venues as the King Hussein Concert Hall and the University of Jordan.
Born in Amman, Jordan, Yasmin started playing the piano at an early age and at 18 she moved to France to continue her musical education. In 2005, she was awarded the First Prize at the Regional Piano Competition held in Orléans, and in 2004 she was awarded the First Prize as a soloist and chamber musician from the Conservatoire National de Tours. She has also received the Certificat de Fin d’Etude from the Conservatoire de Région de Paris - Boulogne Billancourt.
Yasmin holds a Master of Music degree in piano performance from the Manhattan School of Music, a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance and chamber music from the Conservatoire National de Région De Tours, and a Bachelor of Arts in musicology from the Universite Francois Rabelais de Tours. Her major teachers include Andre-Michel Schub, Nelson Delle Vigne, Philip Kawin and Philipe Lefevre. She has also performed in masterclasses with leading pianists such as Jerome Lowenthal, Philippe Entremont, Jean- Philippe Collard, Robert Roux, Susan Shu Cheng Lin, and Xavier Gagnepain. Miss Alami was selected to participate in the highly competitive International Certificate for Piano Artists, performing and studying under Philippe Entremont and Nelson Delle-Vigne Fabbri.
In addition to her performing career, Yasmin has earned a reputation as an outstanding pedagogue. She has served on the faculty at the University of Jordan for four years as a full-time lecturer and piano instructor. She has also had private piano studios in New York City, Tucson, and Amman, and served on the faculty at the Manhattan School of Music Summer Institute. Yasmin is currently the only Jordanian pianist performing in North America.
